The Situation in Puerto Rico

Between September 16, 2017, and October 3rd, 2017, Hurricane Maria swept through the Caribbean at category 5 strength.  One of the hardest hit, Puerto Rico, experienced 155 MPH winds that tore roofs off of houses and obliterated utilities like water electricity.

Today, between 50% and 60% of residential areas are still without power aside from generators.  Bethany Church is partnering with Praying Pelicans, a missions organization that connects local churches with global evangelism ministries.  Together we plan to work with EPC churches in Puerto Rico to provide both physical and spiritual relief to the people of San Juan and surrounding areas.

The Team

We are happy to report that we have a mix of 39 students and adults committed to go on this trip.  A mix of congregation members, youth group members, and even families of youth group members.  Our team leader is Dave Woods, and Michael DeHaven will be overseeing the youth.
